Set Up
What countries can I field in?
When creating a new survey, search or scroll through the “Country” field. Once a country is selected, the language options will default to the country’s native language, but other options are available in the language drop down. To see additional information on the countries we field in check out our Marketplace Profile.
Can I field a multi-country study?
Yes, however, as we have custom qualifications for each locale, you will need to set up countries separately.
How is Incidence Rate (IR) calculated? What if I don’t know my IR?
Incidence is calculated as conversion, using the formula (Completes / (Survey Entrants – Quality Terminations)). This conversion calculation most closely reflects how the panels sending to your survey understand project performance.
It’s easy to check out possible ranges of IR on PureSpectrum. If you change the value in the IR field, the pricing and feasibility will update automatically. You can quickly see the lower and higher ranges of potential price and feasibility based on the IR.
How do I select panels?
After entering the basic survey audience qualifications, the top right Feasibility and CPI box will populate. If you drop down the CPI box, you will see the available panels for the project. Please note that the project will default to adding all available panels to the project. Unselecting panels will adjust feasibility and price.
Can I set nested quotas?
Yes, in the bottom left of the Define Audience page, there is a link to a pop-up modal where you can nest any of the quota groups from different qualifications that you have created.
Can I change quotas in field?
Yes, you can manipulate existing quotas in the fielding dashboard, or Edit Audience, and add, delete and modify quota goals. All prior completes will update in the Fielded column with the new quota structure.
Can I target by location within a country?
Yes, towards the bottom of the Define Audience page, you will see the Location targeting options for the selected country. You can only select one type (i.e., State or DMA) per project set up. However, you can launch multiple surveys targeting combinations of location type, and group them to prevent any duplicates. You can also upload a list of zip or postal codes and create custom quota groups by following the tool tip.
How do I set up redirect links?
There is a link to a redirect guide just below the URL box. Redirects are static. If you need to implement custom variables, you can go to the Manage Buyer Settings. If you have any issues implementing redirects, please contact your Client Success Manager or support@purespectrum.com.
How do I launch?
After implementing survey link and redirects, test the project for a successful completed session. Following a successful test, review the final settings (Soft Launch, past survey exclusions, Field Evenly Over Time, etc.), and hit the launch button on the bottom right. Once you launch the project, the panels that you have selected will immediately start sending based on the audience and quotas that you have set up.
This is a tracking study, should I do anything different?
No, nothing different is required for the first wave. For the next wave, simply “Clone” last survey, and adjust the title or completed interview goal as necessary. On the Final Details page enter the prior survey(s) numbers to exclude respondents from past waves
Pricing
What is my cost on this project? Can I set my own CPI? Are there any other fees?
Your cost on the project will only be the cost per complete (CPIs) on completed interviews from the panels that you selected. Yes, you may override the suggested supplier CPIs with your own CPI (higher or lower) by clicking on the Supplier Selection Details and entering a CPI in Operator Override. There are no additional fees on top of the CPIs you agree to.
Why did my CPI go up?
If using supplier provided pricing (default), the overall CPI is the estimated weighted average of the CPIs from panels that you have selected. If a more expensive panel outperforms their feasibility estimate, the average CPI may go up. You have complete control over the panels that you select. You may also lock in a price by user the Operator Override. The statistics shown on the fielding dashboard are in real time, and you can make changes to panels or pricing at any time.
Do you have project minimums?
No. Unless otherwise discussed for services provided in addition to the platform, there are no project minimums. Your company will receive a monthly, itemized invoice for all projects run in a calendar month.
What impacts pricing?
Length of interview, Incidence Rate, and tough to reach groups in Advanced Targeting will all increase the CPI. Also, the number of completes and days in field, as well as the availability of the audience you are reaching will impact feasibility, and your ability to complete a project with lower-priced panels.
Fielding
The sample is fielding slower than expected, what can I do?
If a project is performing as expected (incidence, length of interview) and quotas are open but is falling short of feasibility, the first to areas to look are if there are more suppliers to add, if pricing is appropriate or pricing can be increased. Please contact your Client Success Manager or support@purespectrum.com if there are issues. They will help you find a solution to field the study.
To add a supplier, click on the survey and then click the bottom center tab “Add Suppliers.” Select the set of suppliers by clicking on them and hitting “Distribute” or by entering values for completes. Then “Save.”
The project is fielding much faster than I want to, how do I slow it down?
Reduce the number of suppliers sending, restrict quotas or reduce price. In project set up, launching with only a few suppliers is best practice to prevent overfilling on easy targets. You can also pause a study and reassess the quota and supplier structure. If you are using a Survey Authoring platform that throttles based on open quotas (i.e., if there are 4 male interviews remaining to be captured, only 4 male respondents would be allowed into the survey), please contact your Client Success Manager about implementing a throttling mechanism. PureSpectrum defaults to let in the number of expected completed interviews, quotas (i.e., if there are 4 male interviews remaining to be captured and the survey was converting at 50%, 8 male respondents would be allowed into the survey).
Why did the system pause my survey?
The system will pause your survey if the Total Goal is met, the Soft Launch is met, or if the Incidence Rate has lowered enough to recommend a price change, or if Length of Interview has increased enough to recommend a price change. You will receive an email notifying you of a system-generated pause status. Please note the survey only pauses for IR or LOI deviations if you are using supplier-offered CPIs.
How do I clone a survey?
On the home screen, click on the
icon and select “Clone.” You will be able to edit the title, completes and audience as you would on the Define Audience page.
How can I spread out my completes over time?
When launching the survey on Final Details, if you select “Field Evenly Over Time,” all quotas will open for an even amount for the number of Days in Field specified on Define Audience. If you do not see this feature on Final Details, please contact your Client Success Manager or support@purespectrum.com.
The Grouped Field Management feature on the Quota Management page allows you to adjust all quotas (or all highlighted quotas) as a percentage of goal or as a flat number. This is an easy short cut to pace data collection and can be done at any time during fielding.
General
Can I recontact respondents?
Yes. Obtain a list of the PSIDs from your survey data, or Column B in the Survey Traffic Report (found in the Report tab on your survey). Select RECONTACT SURVEY from the drop-down template on + New Survey. Upload the .csv of PSIDs and fill in the other required fields. If you desire to set a specific price, after project launches, go to “Add Suppliers” and use the Operator Override feature to set a price.
Can I collect PII in a survey?
Yes, but please contact your Client Success Manager to discuss the specific opportunity, proper procedures, and suppliers best suited for the type of PII collection that you plan to do.
Do you have B2B sample?
Yes, select from a choice of qualification questions in “Advanced Targeting” on the Define Audience page.
Is PureSpectrum deduplicating respondents?
Yes. Before a respondent enters your survey, PureSpectrum uses device fingerprinting, fraud detection and PureScore to deliver only real, unique and quality respondents.
